Legal & Privacy

Privacy Policy

Your reading privacy and personal data protection are foundational to BookSwap.lk.

We believe reading is deeply personal. We collect only what is necessary to connect you with nearby readers and facilitate safe exchanges.

1. What We Collect

We collect your phone number (or email) for secure SMS OTP authentication, your display name, and your broad city/district. We never ask for or store your exact residential street address.

2. Ghost Mode & Anonymity

You can enable Ghost Mode in your profile settings at any time. This masks your public profile name as 'Anonymous Reader' and hides your personal shelf from public indexing.

3. Location Privacy

Distances between readers are computed using district and town centroids. Your precise GPS coordinates are never broadcast to other users.

4. No Advertising Trackers

We do not sell your personal data, reading habits, or contact numbers to third-party ad brokers or marketing syndicates.
